Jozef Semančín is the founding and managing partner of SEMANČÍN & PARTNERS.
He studied international banking and finance law, corporate financing, international commercial justice and arbitration and competition at the University of Cambridge. These studies helped him gain knowledge and perspective on international finance and competition law and made him extremely capable of representing clients in cross-border transactions.
Jozef has broad experience in banking, derivatives and bankruptcy and can advise foreign and Slovak clients on complex transactions with an international element. Among other things, he worked on drafting documents for major Slovak banks, while co-operating with and managing Danish, Maltese, Luxembourgish, Hungarian and Czech lawyers.
Jozef is an expert in advising the defence industry, both in contracting and litigation. He has represented a leading Israeli company in military technology imports into Africa and an major Slovak trader in a dispute with the State. SEMANČÍN & Partners is the only law firm that is a member of the Security and Defence Industry Association of the Slovak Republic.
Jozef’s expertise also extends to intellectual property and information technology (including the drafting of structured contracts). He has worked on a full range of contract documents, including intellectual property protection documents for the author and designer of the K1 Attack racing special and Praga Racing Car.
He also advised on competition issues, in particular on dominant position abuse cases. Jozef has represented a leading association of Slovak farm producers in proceedings before the Antinomopoly Office of the Slovak Republic and leaded the team that prepared the dominant position abuse complaint that was submitted to the European Commission.
In the areas of environment law and waste management, Jozef is a good choice if you need advice on matters that concern the application of the new Waste Act, mainly with respect to waste recycling and disposal.
